About State Employees Credit Union
The State Employees Credit Union was established in 1937 by a group of North Carolina State employees. The initial offering was meager, merely $437 in assets from seventeen members. Its first “branch” was located in the basement of the Raleigh Agriculture Building. In twenty-three years, it would grow rapidly to have over 70,000 members and assets valued at nearly $25 million. The SECU Foundation was founded in 2014 to take part in the growth and development of North Carolina communities.
