This guide will show you how to find each contact method and detail when you might want to use one form of support over another so that you can quickly get the help you need to better understand your credit and take advantage of Experian’s credit services, like Experian CreditLock and Experian Smart Money.
If you are a current Experian member and have questions about your account, you can contact the Experian customer service number to get the information you need. You will be required to select from a range of menu options. Make sure you select the correct one so that you speak to a representative from the correct department. Experian has an online contact form for those who wish to file a credit report dispute based on credit report information from a major credit bureau. To fill out the form, visit https://www.experian.com/disputes. Then select the menu item “Start a new dispute online” to bring up an online form requesting your personal information and the details of the dispute. You must also upload relevant documents so Experian has enough consumer information to settle the dispute with the appropriate credit reporting agency.
Once you have filled in the form and uploaded your documents, you will receive instant confirmation that your dispute has been lodged. From there, Experian will begin its dispute process with the credit reporting agency, and you will receive an email notifying you of the outcome, which usually happens within 30 days.
The company also has an online form for those who wish to add a credit freeze to their account. A security freeze helps prevent credit cards or loans from being approved in your name without your consent, which can happen if someone gets a hold of your Social Security number or personal information needed to apply for a new credit account. To request a credit freeze, visit https://www.experian.com/freeze/. You will need to log into your Experian membership account and select the “Add a security freeze” menu option, followed by the “Apply online” option. This will take you to an online contact form where you must enter your details. Once the form is submitted, the security freeze should take effect almost immediately, and you will be notified of this by email.
Should you need to dispute a credit report, get more information for a fraud alert you received, or send documents to Experian that they requested during a previous contact, you can do so by emailing the company at the following address. Be sure not to send any personal information via mail that wasn’t specifically requested by Experian.
