It all started with a hotel in Cisco, Texas, that boasted a modest 40 rooms that went by the name Mobley Hotel. It would be six more years before Conrad attached his name to a hotel, opening the Dallas Hilton in 1925 before expanding into Waco, Texas. From the very beginning, he focused on the idea of luxury and comfort, a fact demonstrated by the unique feature of air-conditioned public areas in that Waco hotel.

Sixteen years later, Hilton expanded into the Big Apple, purchasing the Plaza and Roosevelt Hotels in New York. This would make Hilton the first company in the hospitality industry with locations across the United States.
