Common FAQs related to how to sign up for Ezpass, the benefits of having an Ezpass transponder, what Ezpass is, how to identify an Ezpass lane, how fast one can drive through an Ezpass lane, how to appeal violations, and more. So, with this in mind, it is best to get in touch with the state-specific service provider. Whether you want to know if you need Ezpass in each state you travel to, need to change your credit card or address, replace the battery on your Ezpass, or just speak to a real person, there are multiple resources available to you.

E-ZPass is an electronic toll collection system used on toll roads, bridges, and tunnels in the Eastern, Midwestern, and Southern United States. It was first implemented on December 17, 1996, at all toll collection facilities of the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority, including 7 bridges and 2 tunnels.
The E-ZPass system allows drivers to pass through specially designated lanes at toll plazas without having to stop, as the toll is paid electronically from a pre-paid account. Once a driver has established an E-ZPass prepaid account with a participating agency, they receive a small electronic transponder that attaches to the inside of the windshield of their vehicle. When the vehicle passes through a toll facility where E-ZPass is accepted, an antenna at the toll plaza reads the transponder, and the appropriate toll is then electronically debited from the prepaid account. The service makes traveling more convenient and quicker, reduces traffic congestion, and eliminates the need for traditional toll payment methods such as coins, tickets, and tokens
The E-ZPass Interagency Group (IAG) consists of member agencies in several states, which use the same technology and allow travelers to use the same transponder on toll roads. With technologies helping to manage traffic in 17 different states, the company is now recognized as being the world’s most successful toll interoperability program.
