About Eastern Bank
Eastern Bank was originally founded in 1818 in Massachusetts under the name Salem Savings Bank. It continued under that name for 176 years before being renamed to Eastern Bank, and transitioning from a bank to a holding company that acquired multiple other banks in the region. The owners of Eastern Bank continued to aggressively expand its operations throughout the state. In 2015 it began expanding into New Hampshire and opened six branches, a clear sign that its expansion is far from over.
