About Mossberg

Swedish immigrant Oscar Frederick Mossberg founded O.F. Mossberg and Sons. After working with US-based gun manufacturers, Mossberg and his sons began their own company. Their first product was a four-shot .22 caliber pocket pistol called the Brownie. Over 37,000 Brownie pistols were made from 1920 to 1932.

The company grew during World War II, as it made parts for the Browning M2 .50-caliber machine gun for the Enfield No. 4 rifle. It also made the Model 42 and 44 .22-caliber bolt-action rifles used for training by the Army and Navy.

O.F. Mossberg and Sons is still family-owned and the oldest family-owned firearms manufacturer in the U.S. Today, the company produces rifles, shotguns, and handguns.
