If you have an issue with your account, here is how you can quickly talk to a human and skip the automated system:
1. Call the 24/7 American Express Customer Service Phone Number: 800-528-4800
2. The automated rep with ask you what you need help with, say “Customer Service”
3. The automated rep will ask for your card number, say “Customer Service”
4. You will be immediately transferred to a human representative
It is a good idea to have your card number ready to expedite the conversation.
If you feel that your question is complicated, ask to speak to a supervisor right away, and don’t waste time on talking to a regular rep. This is will save you serious aggravation, as reps are not authorized to make any decisions on your account, and will transfer you to a supervisor anyway, after having wasted your time and asking a million questions.
If you prefer NOT to speak on the phone, you can chat with a live rep on the American Express website. Note: You need to log into your account, otherwise the online chat option is not available.
Another option is to download the American Express app. The latest version has a fingertip touch authentication so that you can quickly access your account online.
