What Carole and Gordon Segal set in motion would become something more significant than they could have imagined. Under the title of “Crate & Barrel,” they opened a retail company that would sell durable and beautiful goods at affordable prices, emphasizing world home furnishings. The company would grow rapidly during the following decades, and it would take almost 50 years for it to go international. Today, there are 90 Crate and Barrel stores and 15 CB2 store locations.
