Clearwire was born when Sierra Technologies Inc. took a collection of its assets and separated them from the leading company to create Clearwire, Inc. in Arlington, Texas. Outside investors, including Edward “Rusty” Rose of the Texas Rangers. Clearwire’s wireless service quickly grew to be a provider of cellular services, including a broadband service. In 2012 Clearwire Corporation was acquired by Sprint in the wake of a class-action lawsuit based on unfulfilled promises about internet speed performance. Years later, in 2020, T-Mobile acquired Sprint, making T-Mobile the current company name.
