About Etihad

This company came into existence in 2003 by Royal Decree to serve as the second flag carrier in the UAE out of a desire to have an airline for Abu Dhabi. The company started expanding after this initial launch, and in 2011, it was able to proclaim a full-year net profit, an essential stage in the company’s growth as it was finally profitable. Etihad continued to grow and absorb new companies as it did, including companies like Darwin Airline and Alitalia.
