First established in 1993 by the efforts of the Diocese of Brooklyn with a goal to serve the poor community within a 14 zip code area within the city, Fidelis rapidly expanded its services into Queens in the following year. After seeing the success of their program, eight more bishops came together to help grow the policy across the entirety of New York State, a goal they reached in 1996. Every year since, they’ve continued to expand their services, provide care for the elderly and children, and continue to serve the poor and under-serviced, who are their primary customer base.
