Jet Airways, established in April 1992 as a limited liability company, initially operated as an air-taxi service using four leased aircraft. Officially recognized as an airline on January 14th, ownership was transferred to Tailwinds International, marking a new chapter in its history. Operating from India, Jet Airway now boasts a fleet of 119 planes, serving 66 destinations worldwide. Today, the airline is solely owned by Tailwinds, with no other investors holding controlling stock.
As an Indian airline, Jet Airways expanded its operations to include both domestic and international flights. The airline offered a range of services to its passengers, including JetPrivilege Platinum benefits, a comprehensive customer service plan, and a dedicated customer care team. The airline’s offices in key locations like Burlingame, Gurgaon, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Doha provided additional support and contact information for passengers.
On April 12, 2019, Jet Airways stopped all reservations to international services. A week later on April 17, 2019, they suspended operations due to financial problems. The airline applied for reinstatement of its air operator’s certificate in 2022 intending to restart services later that year. However, the airline’s ownership was instead transferred to Jalan-Kalrock Consortium in 2023, which renewed the air operator certificate in July of 2023. They have plans to recommence operations in the near future.
